GENERAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How do I book my selected tour?
You can contact your local Carlson Wagonlit Travel office or you can contact our office directly at 888-298-1788
2. How do I make payment for my tour?
Your deposit of C$300 per person is due at booking or full payment is due if travelling within 70 days. You can make your payment by credit card, cheque or bank draft.
3. What if I need to cancel my trip?
You may cancel your booking at any time provided that the cancellation is communicated to us in writing. Written notification is essential even if verbal notification to cancel has been given. Cancellation charges are outlined in our general Terms and Conditions.
4. Is there a minimum number of participants required for the trip to operate?
If you are booking on a group departure the minimum number required for the tour to operate will be clearly stated. If no minimum is mentioned, then the tour has already met the minimum or will operate with a minimum of two people.
5. Will I need travel Insurance?
Travel insurance, including cancellation and emergency medical coverage is highly recommended. A suitable insurance policy should provide adequate cover for medical expenses arising through illness or accident prior to or during the holiday. We will provide a detailed quote upon booking.
6. What about Passports, Visas and Vaccinations?
It is mandatory that you be in possession of a valid passport, any required visa permits, inoculations and preventative medicines as may be required for the duration of the tour. We will provide guidance on these issues upon booking, but these are ultimately your responsibility
7. Will my age and fitness level allow me to participate on this trip?
You are expected prior to booking to be in reasonable fitness and able to complete the activities outlined in the itinerary of the chosen tour.
No unaccompanied minors (those under 18 years of age) can be accepted on tours operated by us, however, older teenagers may be considered provided they are accompanied by a parent or a guardian who accepts full responsibility for them. If you are 75 years of age or older, we request that you discuss the activity level of the tour with your travel counselor and your family doctor.
8. Is there anything I should be concerned about while traveling?
You should be aware and accept that your proposed tour may expose you to circumstances, and standards of living not found in North America. You should understand that you may be travelling through areas that can be subject to, among other things, unfavourable political, physical, health or climatic conditions.
9. What will the food be like?
Generally a North American style buffet breakfast is included daily. For lunches and dinners, we will recommend appropriate restaurants or hotels for you to have an opportunity to sample local cuisine, or have access to Western favorites.
10. Is the water safe?
In the majority of the destinations in which we operate the water is not up to North American standards. As a result we recommend you only consume boiled or preferably bottled water, which is readily available.
11. What about gratuities?
We do not include tips in the tour cost, because if we did, the drivers, guides, porters etc would not see it as gratitude from you for good service. Tipping is entirely at your discretion in recognition of a job well done. We will provide guidelines for tipping depending on your destination.
12. Will the tour be escorted?
On all of our tours, you will have local English speaking guides in each of the relevant sightseeing destinations to showcase the countries cultural and historical highlights. For all arrival and departure transfers, our local representative will assist you. For example, on arrival you will be met at the airport by our representative with a sign with your name on it. Our local offices will also be available to you to resolve any issues that may arise, and ensure your holiday runs as smoothly as possible. For our larger groups, we may also have a representative from Canada.
13. What will the accommodation be like?
We choose our accommodation based on comfort, hygiene and location. The hotels that you will be staying at on the tour will be outlined in the detailed itinerary.
14. Why don\'t you offer a full-color multi-page catalog of your trips?
Given the nature of the destinations in which we operate, we prefer to have the flexibility to monitor the development in our destinations and offer the "best" each destination can offer. A commitment to the safety and comfort of our guests seems more appropriate than a commitment to any given itinerary. We are also adding new destinations which would not be reflected in a printed brochure. We also enjoy designing and planning a unique one of a kind trip for our clients, suited to your interest and budget, which we cannot do as effectively with a generic printed brochure.
